If there is a hardened/crystallised layer at bottom, it is usually due to cold/dry environment (e.g. aircon). Leave it in room temperature and it should melt back to liquid in a few days. Do not push or force the crystals out in case it tears the plastic.
It is normal for beads to clump together when they start absorbing moisture. Over time with enough moisture absorbed, water will start to collect at the bottom.
There may be air impurities absorbed together with excess moisture by the beads, thereby leaving behind brownish impurities which is normal.
For refillable hanging bag, you can wipe the internal plastic but avoid wetting the paper. Else, it is okay to just leave it and refill with only original beads as per usual.
The absorbent paper of the hanging dehumidifier bag has a larger surface area, allowing more beads to have direct contact with the air - thereby allowing water to collect faster at the bottom.
Both products come with the same absorbent paper, just place them in different areas for optimal absorption.
No, it can only be refilled with unscented white beads (original).
Scented refill beads are infused with essential oils, which may naturally seep out from the paper of the hanging bag, causing possible leakage and affecting longevity of the reusable bag.
Activated charcoal beads are not dissolvable so the black beads will just stay on the top part, hindering the flow of the liquid to the bottom.
